As a part of its Equity Agenda, the City of New York is committed to serving and engaging residents, businesses, and visitors where it is most convenient for them, and doing so by leveraging digital technology to deliver more and more public services. To advance this goal, the Mayor’s Office of Digital Strategy sought to produce a “digital playbook” that would illustrate a pathway for executives at the more than fifty City agencies to make their services available through digital tools, while also positioning New York as a global leader in effective digital service delivery.
Bennett Midland was engaged to develop new user-centered policies for digital service delivery. Partnering with Public Policy Lab, our team combined the ideas and insights we collected from residents—whom we met in their homes and neighborhoods in all five boroughs of the city—with those of community leaders and digital experts to create the first ever NYC Digital Playbook, the City’s official public statement on the most important opportunities and approaches for New York’s digital future.
The NYC Digital Playbook outlines strategies and methods for improving the delivery of City services, embracing government transparency, and generating genuine civic engagement, making New York a more user-friendly and innovative city.
